Cristino Vilorio

I am Cristino Vilorio, a dedicated trade unionist and journeymanelectrician. I am passionate about advocating for workers' rights. My journey into labor leadership began in 1996 when I was initiated as a machinist while working as a truck driver for NEMF. I have been blessed with the opportunity to serve my organization in different roles: ShopSteward, Grievance, and Negotiation Committee Person. In 2015, I was elected business representative for my local 447. Today, I serve as the president of the NJ state council of Machinists, representing over 23,000 members in various industries, Area Director of IAM, District 15, Local 447, Business representative, and organizer. Moreover, I also serve as an Executive Board Member of the NJ State AFL-CIO and Bergen County CLC.
My commitment to self-improvement is a cornerstone of my personal and professional life. I graduated from high school in 1986 and earned an electrical degree from Penn Foster School. My passion for learning didn’t stop there—I later earned a degree in Business Management, focusing on labor, from Eastern Gateway Community College (EGCC). This combination of technical expertise and business knowledge has allowed me to better understand the value of teamwork at all levels.
Beyond my professional life, I am a proud and loving family man. I am happily married to Rita, and together, we have raised two wonderful children. One of my greatest joys is being a grandfather to my beloved grandson, Westley, whom I affectionately call "the best grandson in the world." I credit his family as a constant source of strength, grounding me and balancing my life. Their love and support have been essential throughout my journey and continue to inspire me in everything I do.
